Youth Leadership Program (YLP)

The FBI National Academy Associates supports the young leaders of tomorrow through the Youth Leadership Program (YLP). YLP is designed to offer lifelong enrichment opportunities in support of exceptional young leader’s drive for knowledge and their desire to make a difference in the world.

The vision of YLP is to develop an influential community of socially conscious and service-minded leaders, connected through association who positively shape the world.

The FBI National Academy Associates, Inc. is a private 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization and is not a part of the Federal Bureau of Investigation or acting on behalf of the FBI.

Supporting the Young Leaders of Tomorrow

The Youth Leadership Program is made possible and hosted by the FBI National Academy Associates, Inc., a non-profit law enforcement leadership network. This program focuses on 8 days of intensive instruction for 62 participants.

The highly competitive program is run by a cadre of law enforcement training instructors. Students must have demonstrated high academic standards and good citizenship to be nominated for this program.

Extensive coursework and classroom instruction focus on issues faced by the youth of today and provides tools that can enhance their individual core talents. Each year, students represent over 40 U.S. states and 4 international countries. The Youth Leadership Program is offered to the students at no charge.

All applicants must be rising High School Sophomores or Juniors between 14-16 years old at the start date of the program. No exceptions. Applicants must demonstrate high academic standards and good citizenship on their initial application to be considered for the interview selection process.

Individuals interested in attending the FBINAA Youth Leadership Program must apply through one of the FBINAA’s U.S. or International Chapters. To find your Chapter Coordinator, please see the YLP Coordinator Directory button located to the left (above if on a mobile device). Applicants should contact their local FBINAA Chapter and coordinate with the Chapter YLP Coordinator for specific information on that Chapter’s application process. The YLP Coordinators are your resource for applying to the program. They can provide you with an application and answer questions regarding the application process.


  • November 30, 2022: Applications available from the Chapter's YLP Coordinator.
  • February 3, 2023: Deadline for Initial Applications to be submitted by the applicant to the Chapter's YLP Coordinator to be considered to interview for selection.
  • March 31, 2023: All Candidate Nominations Packages from Chapters/Associations are due to the FBINAA National Office. No candidate nominations will be accepted after this date.
  • April 18, 2023: Final vetting/selection of YLP students will be made by the National Office and Chapters/Associations will be notified of their candidates acceptance.
  • April 21, 2023: Acceptance letters and other pertinent information will be sent to candidates.
  • June 22, 2023: Program commences; Students arrive and are picked up at Reagan National Airport.
  • June 30, 2023: Program ends; Students Graduate and return home.
